This is an innovative 24-hour supermarket simulator set in a very inhospitable place with deeply disturbing customers, but the worst comes at night. In this article we tell you everything and how you can play it for free on your PC (Demo version)... Go ahead!

 

Hellmart is a survival horror game developed by DarkLabs Studio. Set inside a supermarket, the game combines psychological horror, exploration, and survival in a claustrophobic environment.

As the store manager, you must walk through aisles lit by flickering lights, unlock blocked doors, and avoid creatures that move with unpredictable patterns. The story revolves around a failed corporate experiment that turned the place into a dimensional portal.

The demo lets you play the first 20 minutes of the game, with access to two levels and one main creature: The Cashier.

A few days ago, we decided to try the Hellmart demo on Steam. From the moment you open the supermarket door, the atmosphere pulls you in: the desolate environment, flickering lights, the sound of distant footsteps, the crinkle of bags on the floor… and that feeling that someone (or something) is watching you from between the shelves.

The gameplay is simple but effective. There are no weapons, only a flashlight, food containers, and your instinct. You must move carefully, hide behind carts, and listen to sounds to anticipate movements. The AI of The Cashier (your main enemy) is terrifying: it doesn’t follow fixed patterns. Once, it chased us for 3 straight minutes while I hid inside a freezer. I didn’t breathe until it left!

The graphics are impressive for a demo. Shadows move realistically, the textures of products on shelves are detailed down to the last label. The sound is what impacted me the most: the buzzing lights, the dripping ceiling, the whispering voices coming from nowhere… it will give you goosebumps.

The demo lasts 20 minutes, but it feels like an hour. There’s no salvation, no pause, no option to go back. Only survival. At the end, when I finally got out… I didn’t dare close the game immediately. I stayed seated, listening to the silence.

The goal is to survive those 20 minutes without being caught. Each match begins at the entrance of the supermarket. You must collect useful items like flashlights, medicine, and keys while avoiding the Shoppers (creatures with deformed faces) and the Manager (a boss that appears every 5 minutes). The demo includes two modes:

• Survival Mode: Survive the time limit without being captured.
• Nightmare Mode: Increased difficulty, fewer resources, more creatures.

Is it perfect? No. Some textures break on my old GPU, and the lack of saving is frustrating. But that doesn’t change the fact that it’s one of the best horror demos on PC I’ve played in years. If you like Outlast, Resident Evil 7, or Dead Space, you shouldn’t miss this demo.

In conclusion: Personal score: 9.5/10 — not for the length, but for the intensity. If the full game is like this, it will be a classic.

Hellmart was released on Steam on October 13, 2025, in its PC (Windows) version.

How to Download and Play Hellmart (DEMO) for Free on PC

Hellmart is currently in development, but on November 10 its creators released a Demo version. If you want to play Hellmart for free, follow this short step-by-step tutorial:

 

1. Click the "PLAY NOW" button located at the top left of this post.
2. Wait for the link to the game’s Steam page to load.
3. Click the "Install game" button.
4. The link to Steam will open.
5. Click the "Install Demo" button (see screenshot below).
6. Steam will open and the download will begin (you must have Steam installed on your PC and have a Steam account; both are free).
